Installing a new roof is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make for your property, and it’s not something you want rushed or guessed at. That being said… Every roofer says they do quality installations. Then we get called to fix their mess two years later. Missing drip edge. Shingles hanging crooked. Nails completely missing the decking, just holding on by luck. We’ve torn off “professional” installations where they didn’t even use underlayment. Just shingles on bare wood. In Texas. Where it hails golf balls.

We’ve been dealing with this specific weather since 1991, so we know exactly what corners NOT to cut. Six nails per shingle in the nailing strip, not four wherever’s convenient. Want to know the real moment of truth in roof installation? When we tear off your old shingles and see what’s underneath. That plywood or OSB decking is either solid, or it’s a disaster waiting to happen. We’ve pulled off shingles to find decking so rotten you could put your foot through it. Mold everywhere. Previous “repairs” that were just painted-over water damage.

Here’s what happens next. Some contractors just cover it back up. Not their problem, right? Wrong. We photograph everything, show you exactly what needs replacing. Usually it’s just a few sheets near problem areas – valleys, around chimneys, maybe where a leak’s been ignored. But sometimes, especially on houses from the ’70s with that garbage particle board decking, it all needs to go. That’s not us upselling you. That’s us preventing your ceiling from collapsing next year. New decking costs extra, yeah. But you know what costs more? Ignoring it.
